This week, Hampus B. successfully held his master thesis defense on a cutting-edge topic in quantum computing: “Correlated quasiparticle bursts in charge sensitive transmons.” 🚀🧠

In his thesis, Hampus explored how high-energy impacts can cause correlated quasiparticle tunneling events in superconducting quantum circuits, a major challenge for quantum error correction protocols that rely on the assumption of independent errors.

Building on the work of former group member Kazi Rafsanjani Amin (arXiv:2404.01277 [quant-ph]), Hampus used two charge-sensitive transmon qubits directly coupled to waveguides to study correlated quasiparticle tunneling bursts.

Congratulations, Hampus, on an impressive and technically ambitious thesis!
